1. Strengthening Faith Based Engagement in the National HIV/AIDS Response
With support from Uganda AIDS Commission, UCAN is launching regional HIV/AIDS Conferences with the theme: Scaling Up HIV Prevention among Married Couples: Dealing with the Root Causes.
Participants in these conferences will include but not limited to:
a) People Living with HIV (including religious leaders living with the virus);
b) Senior leaders of Evangelical Fellowship of Uganda (EFU), National Fellowship of Born-Again Pentecostal Churches (NFBPC), and Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa-Uganda (PEFA-U). c) Representatives from Uganda AIDS Commission
d) Representatives from Inter-Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU)
e) Representatives from key stakeholders (such as TASO, JCRC, AIC etc.) from the respective regions
Topics to be handled at the conferences include: a) The Significance of Correct and Consistent Condom Use in the prevention of infection and re-infection among HIV discordant and HIV positive concordant couples respectively.
b) The significance of ART drug adherence in minimizing the risk of HIV transmission.
